Village Government
A Village President and six Trustees comprise the Village Board, each serving a two-year term in office. The Village Board exercises all executive and legislative responsibilities and the preparation of long-range plans for the future well being of the Village of Palmyra and its citizens. The individual department heads and the Village Clerks, under the supervision of the Village President, execute the daily operations of the village.
Municipal Court
The Palmyra Municipal Court is responsible for deciding the penalties on citations issued by the Police Department for violation of traffic laws and municipal ordinances. Criminal offenses are sent to the Jefferson County Circuit Court in Jefferson, Wisconsin. Local court personal includes the Municipal Judge, who is elected every two years, and an appointed Court Clerk.

Police Department
The Palmyra Police Department consists of the Chief of Police, a Police Sergeant along with full and part-time officers. The Police Station is located at 202 N. Second Street and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30a.m. To 4:30p.m. Phone calls for non-emergency police business are answered at 262-495-2114. During evenings and weekends calls are forwarded to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department which then dispatches on-call Palmyra police officers to respond to the situation. For police emergencies, call 911.
Fire Department
The Palmyra Fire Department, located at 126 First Street in Palmyra, is a professionally trained, volunteer fire department of dedicated men and women who respond quickly to any fire emergency. In combination with the Fire Department is the Palmyra Rescue Squad, which is made up of volunteers, EMS Professionals and Emergency Medical Technicians. For fire, rescue or medical emergencies call 911.

Public Works Department
The Palmyra Public Works Department has three full-time employees and part-time seasonal help. This department is responsible for the maintenance of the physical properties of the village and supervises private contractors working on public facilities.

Library
The Powers Memorial Library is conveniently located in downtown Palmyra at 115 W. Main Street and is open at regularly scheduled, convenient hours. The library is a member of the S.H.A.R.E. automation consortium, which serves five counties in southeastern Wisconsin. The library has a nice variety of adult, large print, Young Adult, and children’s books, periodicals, DVD’s, music CD’s, books on CD’s, art prints, reference books, and other media. Materials may also be obtained through inter-library loan. Computer access and wireless is available free to the public.

U.S. Post Office
The Palmyra Post Office is one block off of Main Street at 116 North Third Street. The Postal staff consists of a Postmaster, clerk, two rural and two substitute carriers. Lobby hours are; Monday through Friday 7A.M. to 7P.M. and Saturday 7-11A.M. Window hours are; Monday through Friday 9-10:45A.M. and noon – 4:30P.M., and Saturday 9:30-11A.M.
