      The Palmyra Area Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed the Palmyra Historical Society as a new member. Dave Turner, newly elected President, was on hand to receive the certificate for the membership. The Palmyra Historical Society’s headquarters is located in the Turner Museum, which is connected to the McKenzie/Carlin Historical House on the corner of Third and Main Street, in downtown Palmyra.  The Historical House, built about 1845, is listed on the National Register of Historic places and has been restored and furnished with turn of the century décor. 

     The Turner Museum is open on Saturdays from 10-2 and has exhibits in the large display room that change twice a year.  The current exhibits now are display include; The Tischaefer Family, rare books from the Turner Museum, the death and rebirth of Upper Spring Lake and an exhibit of paintings from local artists.
