The Palmyra/Eagle School District is situated in the beautifully carved glacial hills and valleys of the southern part of the Kettle Moraine State Forest and serves approximately
1200 students from pre-school through twelfth grade. The Palmyra/Eagle School District covers 80 square miles in Jefferson, Waukesha and Walworth counties.
The District Office, High School and Middle School are all located at 709 Burr Oak Street in Palmyra. The Palmyra Elementary School is located at 701 West Maple Street in Palmyra and the Eagle Elementary School can be found at 810 East Main Street in Eagle, Wisconsin.
Over the last several years, the percentage of Palmyra/Eagle students who scored “proficient” or “advanced” on the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination has been consistently above the state average.
The District offers half-day four year old kindergarten and full day kindergarten with an average class size of fifteen students. Besides the small class size in the elementary school several after school programs are offered to students including; sports, music, drama and service activities. The Middle School students are expected to meet high academic goals but also have the opportunity to choose from a variety of related arts courses. Co-curricular activities include competitive sports, student council, yearbook, chess and drama club. The High School offers a diverse and comprehensive curriculum of over 125 courses. Three computer classrooms allow access and integration of technology throughout the curriculum. The co-curricular activities that are offered to the students include sports, theatre, debate, music, and community service.
In 2006, Principal Steve Greenquist was selected for Wisconsin Principal of the year. Palmyra Elementary School was also recognized by the Wisconsin Realtors Association for the successful transition of new students into the school district.
Involvement of the community is also a very important part of the success of our schools and is highly regarded in the District. Parents and community members support the schools academic and co-curricular activities with their time, talents, financial support and participation.
We strive to provide students with a quality education, paying close attention to the individual needs of each student, so they will be prepared to achieve success in this diverse world. Some of our graduates have become doctor’s lawyers, scientist, educators, actors, a 2006 Oscar winner, and a nationally recognized football player, just to name a few. We are proud of our students and of their academic excellence.
